MCC
was associated with the construction of all 6-power generation units.
Each unit has a generating capacity of 210 MW. The entire civil
works for Units 3 & 4 consisting of the main plant foundations,
turbo generator, steam generator, deck
slab, station buildings, including fabrication & erection of
approximately 6,500 metric tonnes of structural steel were carried
out by MCC.
The Coal Handling System for Units 1 to 4 involved construction
of 3 wagon tipplers, 25m. below ground level and a 6m. diameter
conveyor tunnel in rock at a depth of 20m. Foundations for the conveyor
system, transfer houses and crusher houses were also built by MCC.
In the expansion phase the coal handling system for Units 5 and
6 were also built by MCC.
